Greetings, we just wanted to tell you a little bit about WKID. WKID (Where Kids Interact Daily) was formed in 2006 due to the lack of diversity in children’s programming. To be quite honest, all we wanted to do at that time was produce a kids album. The concept was simple: kids take over a radio station, call it WKID and play the records they want to hear without their parents changing the station because of inappropriate language, etc... We were also tired of hearing the horrible and annoying songs labeled “Kids Music” in the car. I was like, “This is kids music? What happened to School House Rock? Can we please play something else?”, but it’s all about the kids you know. As we traveled around and got feedback from parents who heard about what we were doing the concensus was the same and the reactions from the kids was overwhelming. We hit the nail on the head and realized we might be onto something. So without any auditions and limited resources, we pulled together some kids and formed WKID---the little engine that could. Today, we have expanded beyond music, to include animation, shorts, videos, films, blogs and web applications to help your kids connect with other kids in their own world. We really tried to put something together for the kids without force feeding them or making them feel like they need to be anybody other than who they are. A Few Goals What else, what else? We’re a socially, eco-kid friendly company that believes in practicing sustainable living. We also recognize and promote the diverse cultures of the world from as far away as China, Jamaica and Sweden to the little kid next door. We're all just a click away these days. But overall, we're just here to provide a platform for your kids to use their creative skills, their emotional and intellectual intelligence, imagination and the latest technology to interact daily with the global kids community. Cheers, |
