Phil Nelson Phil's extensive resume begins with over 15 years experience in the music industry. Starting on the ground floor, learning every aspect of the creative process and moving up to executive where his talents truly shine. Along the way he's had a hand in several massive projects such as the Juice Soundtrack, the James Brown 40 Anniversary, MTV Amp2, Public Enemy and many more. Well over 15 million records sold. Phil was an EVP at Change Music/Rare Medium Group, acquiring several internet music properties such as ChangeMusic.com and CMJ, The College Music Journal. He was also SVP of Operations at P.R.O. Division/Def Jam and SVP of Slam Jamz/Columbia Records and was formerly the principal owner of Quarantine, Inc., which provided consulting and new media services for such clients as George Clinton (Parliament Funkadelic), Chuck D (Public Enemy), Blair Thomas, Ford Motor Company, Adkins Management and Microsoft. It's through Phil's big heart and dedication that drives WKID to constantly seek charities and partnerships to develop special projects in hopes of finding ways to give back to communities and tackling kid issues such as education and hunger.
Steve Weiss With a steady hand that only comes from decades of experience, Steve Weiss leads WKID's energized business development team. His 35 years at the famed William Morris Agency makes him the perfect candidate to conquer WKID's upcoming television and film projects, and beyond. Starting from humble beginnings at the WMA mail room, Steve's career quickly skyrocketed as he soon found himself servicing ad agencies on Madison Avenue such as BBD&O and FCB. After moving to the west coast, he was soon representing prestigious television series and writers as well as packaging a number of TV series from the award winning Murphy Brown to The Man Show. His clients have received every honor from Oscar to Emmy. Steve has worked closely with all of the major TV networks and the growing cable channels including CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX to the USA, FX, A&E, SCI-FI networks as well as all the major studios Paramount, Warner, Universal, Sony, MGM and more. Currently, Steven Weiss Management represents writers and other A-list talent as well as expanding into the worlds of production, internet and kids programming.
Kai Pham With the digital landscape changing every year, WKID keeps up to speed with Kai Pham leading the interactive division. Whether it's through web, games or mobile devices, Kai cuts through the clutter with stand-out interactive strategies that gives our young audience memorable experiences and the yearning for more. As an early advocate in the amazing possibilities of the digital revolution, Kai started creating award-winning online experiences way back in '97, when the web was in its infancy. Kai was known for blending graphics, animation and audio; creating rich multimedia experiential sites for the likes of Jennifer Lopez, P Diddy, and Tom Petty. Alongside design, Kai also develops digital strategies and 360° advertising campaign concepts. He has worked on some of the world's top corporate brands such as Disney, MTV, Mercedes Benz and more, with notable ad agencies such as Ogilvy & Mather, McCann, Razorfish, and JWT. For five years, he ran his own interactive design boutique, Monkey Clan, which has received numerous honors and awards, and has been featured in several publications. As part of the WKID interactive team's research, Kai is tasked to browse the internet and play video games; sometimes all day long.
Alonna Glass At the heart and soul of WKID are the funky beats that come from the mastermind of Alonna Glass. With more than 18 years experience as a producer and recording artist, Alonna now leads the WKID creative team to deliver tracks with a perfect blend of street attitude, urban flavor and wacky humor that both kids and parents go bananas over. Alonna started his career in Philadelphia in '91 as the Chief Producer at Phatt Records, where he developed a hands-on approach to artist development. Following that, he founded Equality Enterprises in NYC, recording such notable artists as Charlie Brown (Leaders of the New School), Prof. Griff (Public Enemy) and Bahamidia. Alonna was also a founding member of Da Matrix, which took the underground by storm, won a competition at The World Famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, and were signed by Tommy Boy Records. Soon after, Alonna created Stove Top Studios, a fully equipped digital recording studio, which he still manages today. Alonna's keen ear has also earned him the honorary title of WKID's Talent Scout as he's the one who discovers the WKID kid stars.
Chris Sabin Leading the WKID marketing team is the multi-talented Chris Sabin, a marketing industry veteran with over 14 years of experience. Throughout his illustrious career, everywhere Chris has blessed with his genius has produced quantifiable results; whether it's general marketing, ad campaigns, promotions, events, media planning or web-based marketing. Chris's career includes being the Director of Events & Promotions for UniWorld Group, where he managed the massive GlaxoSmithKline account, running an award-winning campaign. He also co-launched Icon Lifestyle Marketing, servicing notable brands such as Bacardi, Seagram's, Martell, Absolut, Perrier-Jouet and Moet, and high profile entertainment clients: Brandy, P. Diddy, Iman, Vibe and Timbaland. Most recently, he was Director of Consumer Marketing at TV Land/ Nick@Nite where he drove online traffic and time spent to the highest level on the site since its inception. He has also worked with the Harlem Educational Activities Fund to double their revenue in one year and build partnerships with Burger King, Pepsi, US Marines, New York Knicks and AT&T. |
